‘X-Men 97’ is being the lifesaver for Marvel Studios at a time when everything seemed lost for the cinematic universe that had been so difficult to build. Undoubtedly, 2023 was a blow for the studio, but they are more than making up for it with the animated series by Beau DeMayo —who, by the way, was fired just before the series came out—.
After the eighth chapter in which the war against Bastion and his Prime Sentinels began, the ninth episode has arrived —and, be careful, it’s the penultimate of the season— that has taken an even more surprising turn. In it, we have seen how the X-Men have divided between those who are on Charles Xavier’s side and those on Magneto’s side, as well as another team that has taken on the task of traveling to the island where Bastion is hiding to defeat him. But the best part of the episode happens at the end… and here come the hot spoilers.
Goodbye to Wolverine and Magneto?
In the final stretch of the episode, Magneto confronts, along with Rogue and Sunspot, a group of X-Men which includes Charles Xavier, Jubilee, Cyclops and Wolverine. The fierce battle seems to be in favor of the latter when, suddenly, claws pierce Magneto’s body. Obviously, they are Wolverine’s claws, and everything seems to indicate that it is a fatal blow that has caused Magneto’s death.
However, Magneto has enough time for his final attack, and he attacks Wolverine with all his power causing the adamantium in his body to basically implode. With this heartbreaking image, the chapter ends, and only one is left for the final conclusion that will tell us if what we just saw was completely real or if there will be no consequences.
It is not clear what will happen, but if we take into account that in the series there have been irrevocable deaths like Gambit’s, it is clear that it could happen perfectly… on both sides. However, there is only one episode left of this first season, so we will soon know what happens. But of course, in the future there will be more seasons… so maybe ending with their most popular characters is not the best idea.
