It’s not like we’re talking about Apple TV+ all day long. After all, the streaming service, despite all its Emmy wins, has only a fraction of the audience of Netflix, HBO Max or Prime Video, even if you wouldn’t notice that when it comes to spending money hand over fist on making its series and films. And although there are gems like Pluribus, The Studio or Silo, most people are hooked on Ted Lasso.
He’s not letting go
After coming back for an unexpected season 4 (and one that, to be honest, hasn’t had as positive a reception as the previous 3), Jason Sudeikis, aware now of the success of his character, who even appeared during halftime at the 2026 World Cup, wants to keep going. He figures that Apple should want to keep going if the main cast wants to come back, but you never know.
“We haven’t started a writers’ room or anything like that,” he said. But Sudeikis, who says Ted Lasso has saved his life in more than one way, is going to do everything possible to make not just season 5, but season 6 too, thus bringing the character’s second trilogy to an end (and, perhaps, the last). A top-corner goal, then.
Season 4 got off to the best start in the platform’s history, racking up 296.6 million minutes in just 2 days, but nobody knows for sure whether that success has held up. Considering that the season hasn’t exactly been a fan favorite, it could still surprise us… and, who knows, that Apple itself may have decided to move on from its flagship series. Could it have lost momentum without us noticing?
