The highly anticipated Supergirl movie has started to capture the attention of fans with a new trailer featuring Kara Zor-El, played by Milly Alcock.
The trailer highlights a tone reminiscent of the successful “Guardians of the Galaxy” franchise, which has generated expectations about how the character will be approached in this new film adaptation.
James Gunn, director of Superman and co-director of DC Studios has confirmed that the movie will not follow the story of “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” literally.
A movie awaited by all the fans
Although this may disappoint some fans of the work created by Tom King, Gunn has assured that the film will retain much of the essence of the original story. “It’s a space fantasy, similar to ‘Guardians’, and I’m very excited for people to see Millie and what we’ve prepared,” Gunn stated on Variety’s Award Circuit podcast.
Among the surprises that the movie has in store for us is the appearance of Lobo, played by Jason Momoa, a character who was not present in Tom King’s original narrative. Additionally, the villain Krem from the Yellow Hills, portrayed by Matthias Schoenaerts, will provide a different representation than seen in the comics.
In the film, Kara’s internal conflict, marked by the trauma of Krypton’s destruction and the death of her family, will be a key element in her development as she embarks on a mission alongside a young girl named Ruthye.
Supergirl is scheduled to premiere in theaters on June 26, 2026, and with the growing interest and the news being revealed, fans of the DC universe have reasons to be excited about this promising project.
