Pirates of the Caribbean is one of the most successful franchises, outside of Marvel and Star Wars, that Disney has had in recent decades. The movies starring Johnny Depp were not always good, but they all managed to become box office hits that continued to expand the studio’s fame. However, a lot has changed in recent years… and the next Pirates of the Caribbean movie will be a reboot.
Jerry Bruckheimer, producer of the franchise since the first film was released in 2003, has confirmed that the next step to take with it is to make a reboot that has nothing to do with the previous ones. This, of course, excludes Johnny Depp from the equation.

A new team in search of adventures
In an interview with Comic Book, the producer explained the differences between this saga and Top Gun, which will have a third installment… again with Tom Cruise:
“It’s hard to know. You don’t know, you really don’t know. You don’t know how they come together. You just don’t know. Because with Top Gun you have an iconic and brilliant actor. And how many movies he makes before doing Top Gun, I can’t tell you. But we’re going to reboot Pirates, so it’s easier to put it together because you don’t have to wait for certain actors“.
