Johnny Depp returns to Hollywood in a movie with Penélope Cruz

After spending several years away from Hollywood, during which he took refuge in French cinema (where he even worked as a director), Johnny Depp has left his controversies behind and returns in a new movie alongside the Spanish actress Penélope Cruz. The film is Day Drinker, an upcoming action thriller directed by Marc Webb (The Amazing Spider-Man).

This film, which will mix action and romance, is the first major project Depp is embarking on in the United States since his controversial divorce from Amber Heard. As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Day Drinker, produced by Lionsgate, will be launched at the American Film Market (AFM), where the distributor is expected to present the film internationally. In the movie, Depp and Cruz will portray two characters who find themselves unexpectedly connected within the murky criminal world.

According to the presented argument, Johnny Depp will portray a bartender on a cruise who meets a mysterious character, a “day drinker” played by Cruz, which triggers a series of shocking twists and secrets. The script has been written by Zach Dean, known for action hits like The Tomorrow War and Fast X.
