Every cloud has a silver lining. Due to the resounding failure that Joker: Folie à Deux is experiencing in theaters, the movie will arrive on streaming much earlier than expected. Despite the high expectations it had generated, the sequel, directed by Todd Phillips and starring Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga, has failed to connect with the audience, grossing only 165 million dollars, far from the 400 million needed to be profitable.

In light of this situation, Warner Bros., which has been struggling with its releases for years, has decided to pull the movie from theaters and release it in digital format on October 29, 2024. It will first be available on rental and purchase platforms and later added to Max, supposedly between December of this year and January of the next.

Nobody wants to see this Joker anymore

Since its release, the film has received all kinds of criticism, from the change in tone to the plot twists and its musical approach. That is why Warner is backtracking on its strategy.
