Marvel just released Marvel Dimensions, and one of its wildest touches is a new Johnny Blaze design for the morally inverted In-Verse: Ghost Rider with a halo where the skull should be.
The flaming bike is still there. But this version swaps Ghost Rider’s skull for a blazing halo, gives the black suit something close to a clerical collar, and has fans already calling him “Host Rider.” The whole look also brings back memories of Johnny Blaze’s 2018 King of Hell turn in Doctor Strange: Damnation.
If you follow Ghost Rider, Marvel Dimensions is an easy one to pick up. The bigger shift, though, came in Marvel Comics’ March 2024 series Ghost Rider: Final Vengeance. That’s where Parker Robbins, better known as The Hood, takes the Spirit of Vengeance from Johnny Blaze and ends up with a flaming skull, a red demonic cloak, shoulder spikes, and a hellfire gun, all for Benjamin Percy’s crime-horror story about what happens when power loses any moral compass.
There’s movement on the MCU side too. Ryan Gosling is confirmed as Johnny Blaze in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Shawn Levy is attached to a 2028 solo film, Secret Wars in 2027 is the likely place for him to show up first, and the mantle has already passed through Danny Ketch, Robbie Reyes, Kushala, and Ghostlocke.
