Marvel’s Wolverine is drawing new questions over possible censorship in some Middle Eastern versions, with players on X and Reddit claiming Mystique’s same-sex marriage to Tyger has been dialed back in certain regional builds.
According to those posts, some versions blur photos, alter letters, and mute, hide, or change mentions of “wife” in dialogue and subtitles. People sharing those side-by-side comparisons also say Tyger is still in the game, but any direct confirmation that Mystique is married to Tyger appears to be softened. Fans have pushed back on that, saying the relationship isn’t some small background detail. They see it as central to Mystique’s story and to her connection with Wolverine.
If you’re watching this closely, it’s something to pay attention to, but carefully. So far, all of the evidence comes from users, and Sony Interactive Entertainment and Insomniac Games still haven’t publicly confirmed whether there are market-specific edits, which countries might be affected, or how extensive the reported changes actually are.
If the user reports hold up, the pattern will feel familiar. It matches the kind of regional editing tied to content rules in markets like Saudi Arabia and the UAE, and players are already linking it to earlier reports that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 launched there with Pride flags removed and a gay-couple side mission edited. The argument now is mostly about LGBTQ+ representation, local laws, and the obvious contrast people are drawing with the game’s violence.
You can track the reports around the PlayStation release as players keep comparing regional versions online.
