A few days ago, Microsoft celebrated the Xbox Developer Direct 2024, a live-streamed event where we could see the progress of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2, and even the surprise appearance of Visions of Mana. However, the Direct had a little secret that only the most attentive fans have been able to catch: the words of Quake 6.
Specifically, it has been a whiteboard that has unleashed madness within the community. During the MachineGames presentation video, an innocent whiteboard made an appearance while the developers went into detail about the mechanics of Indiana Jones. Likewise, viewers were able to appreciate in all its splendor how the name of Quake 6 was written on the whiteboard along with its logo.
Fans of the shooter were the first to notice this reference and then post it on Reddit. The name and logo of Quake 6 can be seen at the 44:44 minute mark of the official broadcast, if you want to check it out for yourself.
This supposed Quake 6 remains a mystery, especially considering that there is no Quake 5 as such, only Quake Champions. On the other hand, MachineGames already has some experience with Quake: the studio developed two expansions for the original title (Dimension of the Past and Dimension of the Machine), which were included in the title’s remastering in 2021. Is MachineGames hinting at what’s to come?
