Microsoft has announced the integration of Nvidia’s GeForce Now service into the pages of its Xbox game store. This addition will allow users to choose between Xbox Cloud Gaming and GeForce Now when they view a game’s listing on the website. Currently, Microsoft only offers its own Xbox Cloud Gaming service in the “cloud gaming” section of game listings, making the addition of Nvidia’s GeForce Now noteworthy.
For now, the new “play with Cloud Gaming” button is not available, and it is not known if it will be a simple link to the main page of GeForce Now or a direct link that starts the game on Nvidia’s service. The Nvidia GeForce Now RTX 4080 level is possibly the most prominent cloud gaming service at the moment; Nvidia stated that the end-to-end latency surpasses that of an Xbox Series X locally running on a 60 Hz TV.
This is not the first time that Microsoft and Nvidia collaborate in the field of cloud gaming. Both companies signed a 10-year agreement that allows Nvidia to license Xbox PC games for GeForce Now, including titles from Activision Blizzard. In addition, Nvidia released an update for GeForce Now earlier this year, allowing users to sync their Xbox accounts and purchases from the Microsoft Store with the cloud gaming service.
Until Microsoft enables this integration, players can play Xbox Game Pass games with GeForce Now. To do this, users must download the GeForce Now app, available for PC and Mac, log in to the application, connect their Xbox account with GeForce Now, and in the Games section, find the Game Pass games that can be played through GeForce Now.
