Sub-Zero joins the battle

A notable detail in the trailer is the return of Sub-Zero, a character who died in the previous 2021 movie, but in this installment returns as Noob Saibot. This plot twist is directly inspired by the lore of the video game, where Noob Saibot made his debut as a secret character in 1993. His name is a play on words that combines the reversed surnames of his creators, Ed Boon (Noob) and John Tobias (Saibot).
