Sony Interactive Entertainment’s official U.S. PlayStation settlement website is now up, and people who bought eligible digital PlayStation games through the PlayStation Store can use it to see whether they’re covered by the company’s roughly $7.85 million class-action settlement, according to the official claims and information site.
If you bought eligible digital PlayStation games from the PlayStation Store between April 1, 2019 and December 31, 2023, you may fall within the class. The complaint in Caccuri v. Sony Interactive Entertainment says Sony limited competition after it stopped third-party retailers from selling digital download codes in 2019. Sony agreed to settle the case, but didn’t admit wrongdoing.
For most eligible users who still have active PlayStation Network accounts, compensation is expected to go out automatically as PlayStation Store wallet credit, the official settlement website says. Users who no longer have active PlayStation Network accounts needed to contact the settlement administrator and ask for cash instead. Individual payments are expected to be small, and final approval is scheduled for October 15, 2026, according to the settlement website.
If you bought digital PlayStation games during that stretch, it’s probably worth a look even if you shouldn’t expect much money back. The case also lands alongside similar challenges facing Sony in the UK, the Netherlands, Portugal, and Mexico, plus a separate California lawsuit over the wording used for PlayStation Store purchases.
