The next Mortal Kombat is bringing a lot (but a lot) of tail. NetherRealm Studios, the parents of the Mortal Kombat saga, have even let slip on a couple of occasions the future of the next title in the franchise, which we have all known as Mortal Kombat 12 until today.
First was a brief teaser, released 10 days ago on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Mortal Kombat saga, in which simply and simply a grain of sand (with some glitter) explodes. After leaving us with our asses twisted, this week another more enlightening teaser was released, where the second hand of a clock abruptly skips the number 12 and jumps to 1.
While it is already quite obvious to fans that the next Mortal Kombat would be a reboot of the saga, a recent leak would confirm it at all. The author of the leak is billbil-kun, a user known in the gaming industry for making reliable leaks about data such as the list of free PlayStation Plus games, before they are announced by PlayStation.
This well-known leaker confirms the theory that the next installment of the Mortal Kombat saga would be called Mortal Kombat 1, thus assuming a reboot of the franchise. In addition, he also confirms that it would be released for all current generation platforms: PC, PS5, Xbox Series S|X and Nintendo Switch, and that it would be released in three editions: a standard one that would cost around $59.99 – $69.99, depending on the platform; a premium one that would be worth $109.99, and a “Koleccionista” edition that would cost around $249.99, but only for PS5 and Xbox Series S|X.
