Since its launch, Shogun has been a success everywhere. The audience enthusiastically embraced this Disney Plus series, and soon the awards began to recognize its worth. Now, at the Emmy Awards, Shogun’s final victory has been announced in a record-breaking manner. But what are these records that have been broken at the 2024 Emmys?
Shogun sweeps the at the Emmy Awards
First, Shogun has broken the most important record: the one for the series with the most awards in a single season in history. With a total of 18 awards, it is now the series that has won the most awards, both in general categories and in drama series, surpassing even the all-powerful Game of Thrones. It has also been the second non-English language program to win Best Drama, after Squid Game did it first. It’s clear that the series could continue to expand its already impressive records in upcoming seasons.
As for other winners, The Bear won a whopping 11 Emmys, and although it didn’t win the best comedy series award (yes, it competes in that category), it has already become the comedy series with the most Emmys won in a year, surpassing itself in previous seasons. Finally, Baby Reindeer won the award for best limited series, thanks to Netflix’s supremacy.
