Thanks to roleplay, GTA V has managed to stay at the top all these years. Rockstar knows this, so it’s no surprise that the company has announced the acquisition of Cfx.re. This team is behind FiveM and RedM, the biggest roleplay and creator communities.
In an official statement, Rockstar explains that they have been “enthusiastic” about how the community has expanded the universes of Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2 through these dedicated roleplay servers. They add that they have “recently expanded the modding policy to officially include those made by the creative roleplay community.”
Certainly, this would be a logical move by Rockstar, as they have identified a significant opportunity to explore for the future of the franchise. However, this leaves us with some questions: Will we see a dedicated roleplay game mode in the future GTA 6?
What are FiveM and RedM?
In recent years, roleplay has significantly boosted the popularity of GTA Online, the online mode of Grand Theft Auto V. Streamers and content creators have also played a vital role in the success of this gameplay mode, which has garnered millions of followers worldwide.
As the name suggests, roleplay is a game mode where players take on specific roles. Essentially, it’s like we’re playing a character and acting out a role. Through clients like FiveM and RedM, players can connect to dedicated roleplay servers within GTA Online.
