Slow Horses isn’t slowing down. Apple TV+ says season 7 of the Gary Oldman spy drama will add Varada Sethu, Ethan Moorhouse, Tuppence Middleton, Merab Ninidze, and Joshua McGuire. The announcement comes as season 6 wraps, and Apple has already renewed the series for season 8.
James Callis is also coming back as former MI5 First Desk Claude Whelan. Apple still hasn’t said who any of the five new additions are playing. If you’re the sort of person who keeps track of casting coincidences, there’s a loose Guy Ritchie connection in the mix: Joshua McGuire appeared in The Gentlemen, and Ethan Moorhouse showed up in MobLand. Probably just a fun little footnote, not much more than that.
Apple says season 7 will adapt Mick Herron’s Bad Actors. That puts Jackson Lamb and the Slough House team on the trail of a mole inside the British government, which sounds exactly like the kind of mess this show does well: grubby office politics, black comedy, and espionage with real stakes.
If you watch Slow Horses, this is a pretty good update to get, especially since executive producer Will Smith has said Gary Oldman wants to keep playing Lamb for as long as Mick Herron keeps writing. And with the new cast still under wraps, the biggest mystery hanging over Jackson Lamb’s next politically charged crisis is who they’re actually playing. You can watch Slow Horses on Apple TV+.
