Marvel’s next MCU Spider-Man movie, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, isn’t bringing Tony Stark back into Peter Parker’s story. No flashback, no tribute beat, no Robert Downey Jr. cameo, even though plenty of fans were expecting one.
What it does do is move Peter beyond Iron Man’s direct shadow and treat the reset at the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home like a real break in his life, not just another plot device.
After the world forgets Peter Parker in Spider-Man: No Way Home, this version of Spider-Man is left without his friends, his mentors, Stark Industries, or the high-tech safety net that shaped so much of Tom Holland’s run.
Reports say director Destin Daniel Cretton is using that separation to center Peter’s own struggles, his growth, and the part where he learns to rely on himself, with homemade tools and raw instinct taking the place of billionaire-built armor and inherited gadgets.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day still leaves in a few small Tony Stark references, including Iron Man-style imagery reflected in Peter Parker’s eyes and a brief memory tied to a bag and a note from Stark, but it doesn’t come close to a full on-screen return.
If you’ve been hoping for a Spider-Man that feels closer to the comics, the version that has to improvise without top-shelf MCU backing, this one should be worth keeping an eye on.
Fans are split, though. Some of you wanted a stronger emotional bridge before Robert Downey Jr. comes back in Avengers: Doomsday on December 18, 2026, as Victor Von Doom, not Tony Stark.
