Absurd Ventures, the game and creative studio founded by Dan Houser, co-founder of Rockstar Games, has shared a first image of the characters from its upcoming world called Absurdaverse. This new project, which is in development, promises to be an adventure and action video game with comedic elements, combining fantasy archetypes with characters from the modern world.
The creator of GTA seems to only know how to make GTA
The game’s description suggests that it falls within a broad and somewhat elusive genre classified as action-adventure and comedy. This term was used in the recent publication by the studio, which claims that players will be able to meet “new types of heroes (and watch them suffer)”. However, the initial character illustrations have sparked mixed reactions, as many critics consider them to be overly stereotypical and generic.
The characters presented, ranging from an “annoying child” to a “businessman”, seem to follow common trends in comedy, which has led some to question the originality and quality of the final content. According to observations, the proposal is more oriented towards commercial viability than creative innovation, evoking memories of low-quality web series from past eras.
Among the most skeptical perceptions is the idea that the Absurdaverse could be a clear attempt to create a commercially attractive universe, designed to be marketed and generate merchandising. While video game enthusiasts and former Houser followers hope for a positive surprise, many are already reserved about a project that might not present significant innovations.
