The Terrifier franchise, which has achieved notable box office success with total earnings amounting to 106 million dollars, is now at the center of a legal scandal following accusations from actress Catherine Corcoran, who played Dawn in the first installment. Corcoran has filed a lawsuit for breach of contract, claiming 1% of the box office profits from the three films, of which Terrifier 2 and Terrifier 3 generated revenues of 15 million and 89 million dollars, respectively. However, Corcoran claims to have received less than 8400 dollars, which starkly contrasts with the franchise’s earnings.

Terrifier? A terror

In her lawsuit, Corcoran not only claims financial compensation but also exposes the working conditions on set, describing a dangerous and negligent environment. The actress mentions the use of prosthetics that contained rat feces and the implementation of real gags during filming. According to her testimony, these elements resulted in injuries. Furthermore, the lawsuit includes serious allegations of sexual harassment and invasion of privacy, claiming that producer Phil Falcone took photographs of her naked body without her consent.

Director Damien Leone has faced criticism not only for the situation on set but also for his response to political comments from David Thornton, the actor who plays Art the Clown. Leone stated that he did not want his work to be influenced by political ideologies, which sparked a debate about his stance at a time when the film industry is facing ethical and representational challenges.

With the possible production of Terrifier 4 on the horizon, the saga is not only experiencing commercial success, but now faces the need to address these serious accusations that tarnish its reputation in modern horror cinema.
