Among the unexpected successes, Kaiju No. 8 is one of the biggest. The manga began its serialization in July 2020 on Manga Plus and, although it wasn’t a big sensation at first, it managed to create a loyal audience that loves this story of humanity fighting giant monsters. Then, the series received an anime version in April 2024. And now, as we know, it’ll also get a video game.
Akatsuki Games, in collaboration with TOHO and Production I.G., has announced that they’re working on a game provisionally titled Kaiju No. 8: The Game for PC, iOS, and Android. Although we don’t have a specific release date, not even a general year, we do know that it will be a free-to-play game with in-app purchases.
If you don’t know Kaiju No. 8, the truth is that its premise is quite interesting. In a world plagued by giant creatures known as kaijus, a young man named Kafka Hibido enlists in the defense forces. Although things don’t go as imagined, after meeting a young volunteer, he’ll remember a promise he made with a childhood friend, which will awaken something in him that’ll make him realize he has the ability to make a difference in the fight against the kaijus.
Although we still don’t know much about Kaiju No. 8: The Game, not even its final name, we expect to know more in the coming months. And while it’s doubtful that it’ll be released before 2025, we will keep you informed on all information about it.
