The Alien saga seems far from taking a definitive break, as it has been confirmed that a sequel to Alien: Romulus is in the works, a film that was well received by audiences last year for its successful blend of novelty and nostalgia. The news comes with the possibility that Sigourney Weaver will return to her iconic role as Ripley at the age of 76.

Sigourney Weaver wants to return

During the New York Comic Con, Weaver announced that she is considering a new proposal written by Walter Hill, producer of the first installments of the saga and screenwriter of Alien 3. Hill has crafted 50 pages that explore the future of the character Ripley, which the actress has praised as “quite extraordinary.” However, despite the enthusiasm, there is no certainty that this new script will become a cinematic reality.

Weaver has shown interest in reprising the role of Ripley multiple times since 2008, launching projects with renowned creatives like Ridley Scott and Neill Blomkamp, but these did not progress.
