A new app called Protector has arrived in the U.S. market, offering the possibility to rent armed bodyguard services in a way similar to how Uber works.
Currently, the app is available in the cities of New York and Los Angeles, and there have already been requests for its expansion to other locations within the U.S.
Users can access personalized security measures by hiring a bodyguard for a cost of 100 dollars per hour, with a minimum of five hours.

This platform allows clients to choose details such as the escort’s dress code, which can vary between formal attire or “tactical casual,” as well as the option to include escort cars in the service.
The “protectors” who offer these services are active or retired members of security forces, all of them with specific permits in accordance with the Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act (H.R. 218).
According to the company, the professionals come from diverse backgrounds, including SWAT teams and operations in conflict zones.
The official launch of the application was yesterday, and it has already sparked varied opinions in the App Store, where some users have expressed their desire for it to expand to other regions. Additionally, a promotional video has generated interest by simulating how a bodyguard could have intervened in critical situations, such as the attack suffered by a CEO of UnitedHealthCare.
Protector was founded by Nick Sarath, a former Meta employee, who had failed in a previous attempt to create a startup that competed with Instagram.
With the aim of making private security more accessible, the app presents itself as an attractive option for those seeking personal protection alternatives in an increasingly unpredictable environment.

After a fierce lawsuit that ended with Microsoft separating Teams from its Office suite and the announcement of Zoom AI Companion, it was expected that Slack, another major player in digital communication, would respond. Naturally, Slack doesn’t want to lag behind in the race for the market share opened up by this innovative technology. Therefore, Slack is preparing an artificial intelligence-based tool that, without the need to leave the application, will be capable of summarizing threads, recapping the most important parts of a conversation, and searching for answers in your own messages. Testing of this new functionality is set to begin, according to Slack’s update on Wednesday, this winter.
Through its new integrated artificial intelligence features, Slack aims to offer the ability to generate message summaries, filtering out chat noise to help users access important conversations or ones that may have been overlooked. As for searching for answers within one’s messages, this tool can be used to quickly review Slack chats, files, and channels by simply asking it a question. The tool will then create a topic outline, creating a link to the conversation where it was being discussed.
This isn’t just a challenge to Zoom and Microsoft’s AI, but also to many task managers like Asana and Trello. Being able to track projects among all team members using the application and, most importantly, not having to leave it to keep your schedule up to date or find out who’s responsible for a task, could potentially reshape how we view and use task managers.
This is just one of the AI-powered offerings that Slack is proposing. In early 2023, it introduced a ChatGPT-based bot that helps in composing responses to colleagues who send you a message. Meanwhile, all the new AI-based features of the application will begin testing in the winter of this year. If you want to try it, you can sign up for their waiting list at this link.

Are you so addicted to scrolling through the endless TikTok feed that you would spend hours a day doing it? Now they pay you for it.
“The society has a problem with TikTok. At least with the addiction to TikTok. Millions of young people suffer from this problem, which is why the social media platform has had to launch tools to control this addiction.”
But if you’re someone who adores TikTok and spends their day watching videos, within a non-addictive use and controlling the habit, it’s possible that the app should pay you for that activity.
Well, guess what? An influencer marketing agency is offering $100 per hour for scrolling through the social media platform for 10 consecutive hours to discover new trends.
The offer comes from Ubiquitous, an influencer marketing company that is seeking candidates for a TikTok observer job, although it’s actually more of a contest, as the website refers to the chosen individuals as winners.
The agency had previously offered the same job, but this time they are looking for three people who want to earn $1,000 for 10 hours of work.
How to apply for the TikTok job offer
If you’re a TikTok fan and think you’re up for the challenge, there are three steps you need to follow to apply. First, subscribe to Ubiquitous’ YouTube channel to stay updated on the job.
There’s also an application form available on the website where candidates are asked to write 50-100 words on why they are the best candidate.
Lastly, you can tweet about why you deserve the position and tag Ubiquitous in your tweets. The last part is optional, but the company claims that tweeting will increase the chances of being selected as it will receive priority consideration in the selection process.
The Ubiquitous TikTok Watching Job 2.0 is open to applications for another two weeks! ?
— Ubiquitous Influencer Marketing (@Ubiquitous_HQ) May 15, 2023
Ubiquitous states that they are looking for someone with a TikTok account who is familiar with the platform, has a keen eye for trends, and can identify converging similarities. They must also be at least 18 years old. The deadline for submitting applications is May 31, 2023.
In their previous search for TikTok users last year, Ubiquitous offered to pay someone $50 per hour to watch TikTok for 12 hours over three days.
The chosen person also received a $50 Uber Eats gift card, a $50 Target gift card, a flexible phone stand, a 12-inch ring light, and a tripod.
Like other social media platforms, TikTok has faced accusations that its algorithms are designed to keep people addicted, hence the controversy surrounding this offer.
However, the biggest issue for its owner, ByteDance, is its alleged ties to the Chinese government, which is why the app has recently been banned in Montana.
These are important utilities, we may not need to use them often, but we will appreciate them more than once.
Our new Mac comes with many apps installed. Apps such as Safari, to surf the Internet, Mail, to manage our mail, Contacts, Calendars or Reminders describe their function only with their name, but there are others somewhat less clear. We are talking about the 17 (16 on Macs with M1) applications in the Utilities folder under Applications. Let’s take a look at them and see how they can be useful.
