It was in November 2003 when Ubisoft released a very original and different adventure game with incredible designs that would mark an entire generation: Beyond Good and Evil. Jade’s adventures were a success and its creator, Michel Ancel, said his idea was to turn it into a trilogy. Ubisoft started working on it and in 2008 it was announced that the sequel was in development. And until now.
Beyond time and space
Beyond Good and Evil 2 had a proper trailer at E3 2017, only to be forgotten again. Occasionally contradictory news arrives, such as it being canceled or that they are putting the finishing touches on it. The truth is that there is a lot of silence about it, but the official Twitter account of the game has clarified that we are in a hurry and that we should calm down a bit.
“Yes, Beyond Good & Evil 2 is still in development, and we can’t wait for you to discover more about Jade’s past in the 20th Anniversary Edition!” Ironically, Ubisoft is going to release the remaster of the first game to celebrate its two decades of life before the second part, which is already, by the way, the game that has officially spent the longest time in development without being released. It’s better that, at least, it doesn’t come out full of bugs.
Currently, we have limited information, but the day a date is finally set will be a milestone in the history of video games: during this period, the franchise has not tried to be revived with a mobile game, a spin-off, or a puzzle game. That’s all there is. And whether you like it or not, you have to respect those who want to go all in.
