The 1.3 update of Arma Reforger has arrived with a series of significant features that promise to change the dynamics of the game, or at least improve it. Since its release in 2022, the title, which combines elements of military simulation and multiplayer role-playing, had been criticized for its limited content at the beginning and the perception of abandonment by its developer, Bohemia Interactive. However, this latest update reflects a renewed commitment to improving the game.
More for solo players
Among the most relevant new additions are two vehicles with enhanced tactical capabilities: the LAV-25 for the American faction and the BDRM-2 for the Soviets. Both vehicles provide a variety of strategic options on the battlefield, where the total destructibility of buildings and trees now alters combat routes and lines of sight. Solid cover is now temporary, destruction changes everything!, says Bohemia, highlighting that the environment in which players fight is now more dynamic and unpredictable.
The update also introduces attack helicopters, the Mi-8 and the UH-1H, equipped with rocket mounts and various ammunition options. These new aircraft allow players to carry out offensive operations from the air. Additionally, mortar systems are incorporated, which will enable players to provide long-range fire support while coordinating ground attacks.
On the other hand, Bohemia has not forgotten about solo players, as they have added a new elimination scenario that pits a U.S. special operations soldier against a Soviet officer. Adjustments have also been made to vehicle capabilities and supply depots, hoping that these modifications will enhance the overall gaming experience and prevent weapon saturation.
Since its release, ArmA Reforger has moved from a Mixed rating to a Mostly Positive rating on Steam, accumulating over 23,000 reviews. Update 1.3 could continue this positive trend, allowing the game to gain the community’s trust while the wait for ArmA 4 continues.
