The launch of BrownDust 2, a gacha game for adults developed by Gamfs N and Neowiz, has been canceled on Steam due to insurmountable conflicts with the platform’s content policies. In a statement published on the game’s website, the developers explained that, after several internal discussions, they decided that it was not appropriate to make the necessary adjustments at this time to meet Steam’s requirements.
Alternative Platforms to Steam
Although the game’s content is not explicitly pornographic, it is considered NSFW (Not Safe For Work) and may include characters that appear very young, which may have raised concerns at Valve. While most characters are typical of the anime style, some, like the character Refithea, are described as uncomfortably young, which could have triggered a cautious reaction from the platform. In fact, one character can be presented in some versions of their outfit as being only ten years old, raising doubts about their acceptance on Valve’s service.
The decision to cancel the launch on Steam has sparked criticism regarding the consistency of the platform’s content policies, especially considering that there are other adult games on Steam that feature similar characteristics. The developers of BrownDust 2 also highlighted that their game has been available without issues on app stores like the App Store and Google Play, which are generally stricter in regulating adult content.
Despite the cancellation on Steam, the developers confirmed that they will continue to offer the promised wishlist rewards after the update on December 16. Additionally, they are exploring other PC platforms that may provide a better environment for the game and are committed to informing about these alternatives as soon as possible.
