The new Expedition in Arc Raiders will launch on April 28, introducing a significant change in how players earn skill points. From now on, these points will be accumulated based on the damage dealt, rather than being based on the accumulation of wealth. This modification aims to combat the trend of players hoarding resources, thus encouraging a more active and varied approach to completing Expedition objectives.
The team wanted to be very clear about this
Virgil Watkins, game design director, commented on the difficulties they have faced in balancing skills, suggesting that significant changes are coming to the skill system. “There are skills that are not fulfilling their purpose,” acknowledged Watkins, alluding to the possibility that these skills may be adjusted in the future to provide a better gaming experience.
One of the highlights of this new Expedition is that all players who have completed their Caravan will be able to participate without the need for prior registration. “All those who have completed their Caravan will receive the challenge automatically,” states the announcement from Embark Studios, the game’s developer.
The new approach not only aims to encourage combat and interaction between players, but also to maintain an appropriate balance between those who prefer the PvE environment and those who lean towards PvP. “We want to avoid a player whose skill build is focused on PvE having disproportionate advantages in PvP,” said Watkins, emphasizing the team’s commitment to listening to their community and making adjustments that promote a fair gaming environment.
With this innovation, Embark aims to revitalize interest in Arc Raiders and revolutionize the way players interact with their progression system, all while enhancing the social dynamics within the game.
