The iconic Dragon Ball saga is preparing for an exciting return to the screen and video games as part of its 40th anniversary. During the Dragon Ball Genkidamatsuri event, the return of the Dragon Ball Super series was announced, specifically the title Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol, based on the popular Galactic Patrol Prisoner arc from the manga. This return promises new adventures and narrative aspects that fans have been eagerly awaiting.
A game 216 years after Dragon Ball Z
However, the surprise didn’t end there. Bandai Namco revealed a new video game titled Dragon Ball: AGE 1000, scheduled for release in 2027. This game, which will be an action RPG, introduces a new protagonist based on a design that Akira Toriyama prepared before his passing. It has been indicated that Toriyama had an active role in creating the world, the plot, and the new characters of the game. The Year 1000 is set approximately 216 years after the events of Dragon Ball Z, and an original story is promised that will expand the rich lore of the franchise.
In addition to these exciting news, Bandai Namco does not stop in its effort to expand the content of Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO. At the same event, a new DLC was announced that will arrive this summer, which will include the addition of iconic characters such as Super Android 17, Demon King Piccolo, and Bardock Super Saiyan, along with new stages and game modes. Free updates are also anticipated, including Mission Mode 100 available on January 26 and the Survival Mode that will be released in spring.
Fans can expect more details about Dragon Ball: AGE 1000 during the Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour event, which will take place on April 18 and 19. With all these new developments, the Dragon Ball franchise is ready to enter an exciting new era in both television and video games.
