The box office has been the scene of surprising changes in recent weeks, especially highlighting the rise of F1, the action movie and Formula One film starring Brad Pitt, which has surpassed Superman in revenue. F1, directed by Joseph Kosinski, has reached the impressive figure of 613.2 million dollars worldwide, placing it in sixth place among the highest-grossing films of the year. Meanwhile, the DC film, directed by James Gunn, has grossed 611.4 million dollars, dropping to seventh place.
A good summer for the box office
But the milestones don’t stop there. The Fantastic Four: First Steps, starring a stellar cast that includes Pedro Pascal and Vanessa Kirby, has surpassed 500 million dollars, exactly 506.3 million, remaining in ninth place in the annual ranking. This closeness in revenue reflects an increasingly intense competition among superheroes, as Mission Impossible: Final Judgment occupies the eighth position with 598 million.
The big box office phenomenon this summer has been Weapons, a new horror offering that has remained in the top position after three weeks in theaters, accumulating $234.6 million. This film, directed by Zach Cregger, has shown that the horror genre continues to attract significant audiences, defying expectations in a summer dominated by superheroes and action.
On the other hand, the revenue numbers continue to show a change in trends, as for the first time, no superhero movie is expected to surpass 700 million dollars this year. Regarding the highest-grossing titles globally, Ne Zha 2 leads with 1.902 billion dollars, followed by Lilo & Stitch with 1.033 billion and a Minecraft movie with 957.7 million.
