Nintendo has revealed the specifications of its upcoming console, the Nintendo Switch 2, which promises to be a significant advancement over its predecessors. Among the highlighted features is a 5220 mAh lithium-ion battery, which will offer an estimated autonomy of between 2 and 6.5 hours, depending on the video game and usage conditions. However, this battery life is below that of previous models, such as the Switch OLED and the standard version from 2019, which reach between 4.5 and 9 hours.
A console with an extremely interesting screen
It is important to note that while the Switch 2 features improvements in other technical aspects, such as a custom NVIDIA chip with DLSS technology to enhance the gaming experience and a FullHD (1080p) LCD screen that supports 120 Hz, HDR, and VRR, its efficiency in terms of battery life is a point to consider for users who value portability.
Despite this reduction in battery life, Nintendo maintains that the Switch 2 will offer superior performance, especially in demanding titles. The company has indicated that the duration may vary considerably depending on the game, screen brightness, and other usage factors. Games with intensive graphics, such as Cyberpunk 2077, are expected to drain the battery more quickly than less demanding titles.
The Nintendo Switch 2 is scheduled for release on June 5 at a starting price of 469.99 euros, while a bundle that includes Mario Kart World will be offered for 509.99 euros. With these updates, the company aims to attract both fans and new players, although the debate about battery life and its impact on the portable experience of the console has already begun.
