Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 has established itself as one of the major releases of the year, selling over 7 million copies at its debut. Although its success is remarkable, Saber Interactive has made it clear that the adventure does not end here. The studio is committed to providing new content and updates for the game over the coming years, keeping the player community active.
Good things are worth waiting for
Oliver Hollis-Leick, creative director of Saber Interactive, has commented that the development of Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 3 is in an early phase and its development cycle could last about four years. Despite this, he has assured that the development of the third installment will not affect the ongoing support for Space Marine 2, which is scheduled to receive updates and content until approximately 2028-2030.
Since its launch, the game has introduced several missions, enemies, and a well-received Horde Mode, in addition to plans to include a new playable class, the Techmarine, and additional expansions. This approach demonstrates Saber Interactive’s intention to keep players engaged and regularly offer them new content, which resembles a “game as a service” model, although Space Marine 2 is not strictly classified this way.
Despite the excitement generated by the announcement of Space Marine 3, fans can rest assured, as support and expansion for Space Marine 2 will remain the studio’s priority. The solid roadmap for the second year of Space Marine 2 suggests that Saber Interactive has long-term plans for the game, ensuring that players continue to enjoy new experiences while the next installment of the franchise is developed.
