Instead of simply nerfing these builds, the company has decided to add eight new difficulty levels, known as Tormento, increasing the total to 12. This measure will allow players to feel a clear progression of power when using their maximized characters.

Diablo 4 now for the hardcore

During a recent interview, Zaven Haroutunian, the associate director of the game, explained that the goal is to provide players with a more optional system in terms of difficulty.

The focus is on encouraging the experience of risk and reward, allowing players to use their characters in different areas of the game and not be stuck exclusively at the end of it.

According to Haroutunian, the increase in the levels of Torment seeks to provide answers to players’ questions about the use of their numbers and powers accumulated throughout the game.

Blizzard intends for players to have a much clearer progression, as well as gradually more difficult challenges. Aislyn Hall, game designer, warned that the difficulty level in the latest Torment is not for the faint-hearted and will be considerably challenging.
