The return of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater is officially confirmed with the announcement of the remake of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4, scheduled to be released on July 8. This new project, developed by Iron Galaxy Studios in collaboration with Activision and Tony Hawk, promises to bring back the classic content from the original games while introducing new skaters, more complex tricks, and an updated soundtrack. Additionally, new skate parks will be added to enhance the gaming experience.
One of the most anticipated features of the remake is the inclusion of a cross-play mode that will allow up to eight players to enjoy together, increasing interconnectivity between different platforms. The decision for Iron Galaxy to take on the development comes after the integration of Vicarious Visions into Blizzard, which disrupted plans to continue the series after the successful launch of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 in 2020.
The commissioned study has had to go through hell to get here
Iron Galaxy, known for its work on titles like Wreckateer and Killer Instinct, has faced challenges recently, including the layoff of 66 employees in an effort to ensure its long-term survival. However, its experience and commitment could provide the necessary foundation to deliver a remake that meets fan expectations.
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 will be available on multiple platforms, including Steam, Battle.net, and Microsoft Store, as well as through PC Game Pass and Game Pass Ultimate from the day of release. This return has been anticipated since hints were made in a teaser in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, something that was particularly infuriating, fueling rumors of a new title in the iconic skateboarding saga.
