The COD Next event, recently held in Las Vegas, was marked by excessive marketing and exaggerated promises surrounding Black Ops 7. Despite the visual spectacle and the presence of enthusiastic content creators, reactions to the new title have been unexpectedly negative. Many critics and players believe that Black Ops 7 does not bring significant innovations, perceiving it as a repetition of its predecessor, Black Ops 6.

A lot of advertising, very few news

The event was a clear example of the current state of marketing in the video game industry, combining mass announcements with sponsored content from brands like Little Caesars and AMD. However, the evident lack of enthusiasm from the developers and the unconvincing presentations raised doubts about the authenticity of the product presented. The gameplay dynamics, although featuring some modifications like the “wall bounce,” do not seem to be enough to rekindle interest among fans.

The game, which offers a scheduled beta on October 2 for attendees of COD Next and on October 5 for the general public, could influence players’ perceptions. However, the growing competition from Battlefield 6 presents an attractive alternative, increasing the pressure on the Call of Duty series.

The current perception suggests that Call of Duty, or more precisely the business model that has generated annual repetitions, could be in decline. L unmet expectations and the lack of genuine innovation may be marking a turning point for the iconic franchise. With the negative reviews of Black Ops 7, the future of Call of Duty seems uncertain, and many hope that the beta will manage to reverse the current trend of disinterest among players.

The launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is getting closer, as Activision has confirmed that the game will be available in a few months. At the same time, Black Ops 6 continues to expand with new seasons and additional content, keeping millions of players engaged with the franchise. In a recent Call of Duty podcast, the company and Treyarch addressed several concerns from fans, particularly about the movement system of the new title.

A game that continues with what we are already used to

One of the most relevant statements is that Black Ops 7 will not include jetpacks or the ability to run on walls, thus debunking previous rumors that had originated from findings in the game’s internal files. This ensures that there will be no gameplay similar to that of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3. Instead, an ‘evolution of omnimovement’ will be implemented, allowing for slides and fluid tactical movements. However, specific details about this evolution have not yet been revealed.

The senior communications director of the studio stated: “There will be no wall-running or jetpacks, but there will be an evolution of the omnimovement.” It is speculated that this update could include new mechanics that enhance the combat dynamics in the game.

In terms of narrative, it has been confirmed that the protagonist of the campaign will be David Mason, who will lead a special operations team against an enemy that uses fear as a weapon. Additionally, it has been revealed that the game will feature a cooperative campaign, which promises to be innovative. It was also mentioned that there will be futuristic weapons, new maps, and the continuation of the Zombies Mode, with a final map that will be added to Black Ops 6 in Season 5.

A less meaty update, but one that will delight fans

Among the main additions is the Ladra submachine gun, characterized by low firepower but a high rate of fire, which could make it a unique weapon in close combat. In addition, three new multiplayer maps will be added, although the specific names of these scenarios have not yet been revealed.

The competitive Ranked Play mode will return to Warzone with trio matches in a 150-player environment, restoring a ranking system that many fans have been waiting for. Alongside this, the Blaze of Glory event will be announced, which will include 4/20 themed content, as well as a new mode called Joint Operations, which will feature unique and fun mechanics.

For Zombies mode enthusiasts, a special mode called Zombie Snack has been announced, although details are still scarce. The mechanics of previous modes, such as High Trip, will also be updated, moving to Verdansk and enriching the experience with various temporary enhancements.

In addition to these changes, some news has been shared about the Verdansk map, such as new looting areas and the return of elements like the ‘ig Game Bounty and the Bunker Buste’. It is important to highlight that players will only have until the end of the month to complete missions from the previous event and obtain exclusive cosmetics. With everything that is being presented, Season 3 Reloaded promises to be one of the most significant moments for the franchise this year.

The next game in the Call of Duty series, developed by Treyarch, is expected to be Black Ops 7, with a planned release for 2025. The recent information leak suggests that the campaign mode will have a co-op focus for up to four players, set in an open world in the year 2035. This new installment will continue the narrative of Black Ops 2, reintroducing iconic characters like Woods and Mason.

A lot of information that will delight fans

Additionally, the Zombies mode of Black Ops 7 will feature an enhanced version of the Tranzit map, which will be the largest created to date and will include a difficulty control system. This new feature aims to expand the gaming experience, allowing players to explore the timelines of the original characters from the mode. It is important to mention that Treyarch had brought Richtofen back into the Zombies storyline for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, but several years have passed without other characters like Dempsey, Nikolai, or Takeo appearing in the narrative.

Rumors also suggest that the multiplayer maps will feature a new futuristic Japanese environment, maintaining the omnimovement system and adding a new wall-running mechanic. The information comes from a study group organized by Activision to assess player interest in the upcoming game features. However, since the original post containing these details was removed, the information may change before its release.

Additionally, it is mentioned that the Carry Forward program, which allows the transfer of weapons and operators from previous deliveries, could return. Meanwhile, interest in the franchise remains high, especially with the recent releases that have included iconic characters like Jay and Silent Bob in Black Ops 6 and Warzone.

Call of Duty achieves spectacular numbers after the return of one of its most iconic maps

After more than five years since its launch, Call of Duty: Warzone has once again captured the attention of the gaming community with the return of its iconic map, Verdansk. Players consider it a symbol of identity for the title, and its return has led to a remarkable 200% increase in the player base on Steam, reaching over 110,000 simultaneous players following the update of Season 3 of Black Ops 6, according to data from Insider Gaming.

A great success for the franchise

Nostalgia plays a crucial role in this resurgence. Verdansk is not just a map; it represents a golden period for fans. This magic formula has revitalized interest in Call of Duty on the largest PC platform, attracting many players who had drifted away from the title. However, the return of Verdansk has also served to reignite the persistent issues that have affected the gaming experience, such as the growing threat of hackers.

Despite the increase in the number of users, Activision faces the challenge of maintaining this interest in the long term. With the community demanding effective solutions against cheating, the company has indicated that many players incorrectly report their console counterparts, when it is generally the PC users who violate the game rules.

At a time when Call of Duty was losing players, the return of Verdansk offers a respite, but developers must act quickly to resolve hacking issues and ensure a fair gaming experience. The coming months will be crucial for Activision, as nostalgia, while powerful, may not be enough to sustain player interest without the necessary improvements. Rumors suggest that the company may implement new measures to combat this issue and secure the future of the game.

Call of Duty puts a stop to cheaters with a new feature highly requested by the community

In a victory for console players who are tired of the cheating problem in Call of Duty, Activision has announced that starting with Season 3 of Black Ops 6, scheduled for April 2, players will be able to disable crossplay in unranked matches. This highly requested option for years represents a significant change in the dynamics of the popular action title, as it was previously only available in ranked multiplayer and Warzone modes.

No more playing with cheaters

Activision warns that selecting the “console only” option could have a negative impact on wait times, and acknowledges that disabling cross-play will likely slow down matchmaking. Although nearly 60% of reported cheaters are on console, most of the irregularities occur on PC. This discrepancy has led many players to disable cross-play to avoid the cheating problem, contributing to an atmosphere of distrust towards lobbies where players from different platforms participate.

Despite the fact that Call of Duty remains one of the most popular titles in the world, the widespread perception that it is “full of cheats” could influence many players’ decision to abandon cross-play. Reactions within the community are varied; some are concerned about the impact on wait times, while others believe that the measure could minimally affect matchmaking. Some PC players have expressed their discontent with the change, commenting that they hope it does not disrupt their gaming experience.

In this context, some users have suggested that, if the option to limit gameplay by platforms were enabled, PC players should have the ability to exclude specific consoles from their lobbies. Undoubtedly, the arrival of this new option marks a step towards greater customization in the gaming experience, although it also raises concerns about the balance of the matchmaking system in the community.

The return of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater is officially confirmed with the announcement of the remake of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4, scheduled to be released on July 8. This new project, developed by Iron Galaxy Studios in collaboration with Activision and Tony Hawk, promises to bring back the classic content from the original games while introducing new skaters, more complex tricks, and an updated soundtrack. Additionally, new skate parks will be added to enhance the gaming experience.

One of the most anticipated features of the remake is the inclusion of a cross-play mode that will allow up to eight players to enjoy together, increasing interconnectivity between different platforms. The decision for Iron Galaxy to take on the development comes after the integration of Vicarious Visions into Blizzard, which disrupted plans to continue the series after the successful launch of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 in 2020.

The commissioned study has had to go through hell to get here

Iron Galaxy, known for its work on titles like Wreckateer and Killer Instinct, has faced challenges recently, including the layoff of 66 employees in an effort to ensure its long-term survival. However, its experience and commitment could provide the necessary foundation to deliver a remake that meets fan expectations.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 will be available on multiple platforms, including Steam, Battle.net, and Microsoft Store, as well as through PC Game Pass and Game Pass Ultimate from the day of release. This return has been anticipated since hints were made in a teaser in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, something that was particularly infuriating, fueling rumors of a new title in the iconic skateboarding saga.

The resounding success of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has been overshadowed by a series of challenges currently facing Treyarch’s title, resulting in a notable loss of users. Activision has decided to act on this situation and has announced a free trial that will allow players to access the multiplayer and Zombies mode from February 6 to 10. This offer is aimed at PlayStation, Xbox, and PC users, and is expected to help revitalize the game’s player base.

During this trial period, participants will be able to enjoy a selection of content from Season 2, including access to 10 multiplayer maps. Among them are the new maps Bounty and Dealership, as well as popular modes like Nuketown 24/7 and Stakeout 24/7. Additionally, the Zombies mode will include maps like The Tomb and Liberty Falls, giving players the opportunity to experience the latest game updates at no cost.

Many Very Serious Problems in a Game That Promised to Be Activision’s Swan Song

Despite these initiatives, Call of Duty Black Ops 6 is not without its problems. Recently, more than 136,000 players have been banned due to the proliferation of hackers, which has caused frustration in the community. Additionally, criticisms of the skill-based matchmaking system (SBMM) have increased, and many users have complained that certain maps are unconvincing and that there are bugs in the menus. There have also been concerns regarding respawn issues and the lack of appeal in the game’s streaks.

With these concerns on the horizon, Activision’s free trial could be a key opportunity to revitalize interest in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and address the issues that have affected its performance in the competitive video game market.

Xbox is becoming less interesting as a console, but its numbers are growing thanks to its flagship franchise

Microsoft reported a remarkable increase in the use of its Xbox Cloud Gaming platform, reaching 140 million hours of streaming in the last quarter. This growth comes despite a 7% decline in Xbox division revenue, presenting a mixed outlook for the company. Although details about player and subscriber engagement are often elusive, the recent investor call provided a glimpse of significant progress.

The Reason for the Growth: Call of Duty

The increase in the popularity of Xbox Cloud Gaming coincides with a 30% growth in PC Game Pass subscribers. This momentum is largely attributable to the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, which arrived on the Game Pass service as a playable title from its launch. Nadella, CEO of Microsoft, highlighted that Black Ops 6 became the best-selling game on Xbox and PlayStation platforms, breaking records with more players at its launch than any other paid title in the series.

However, the challenge persists: Xbox hardware sales experienced a 29% drop, suggesting a growing disinterest in consoles. To counter this trend, Microsoft has been working on a portable gaming device and has implemented marketing campaigns, despite some users’ criticism of its focus on services rather than hardware. The strategy seems to rely on AAA titles to maintain momentum in Cloud Gaming and Game Pass, which becomes a challenge given that the Call of Duty franchise only releases new titles once a year.

In addition to Call of Duty, other games from Activision Blizzard’s catalog, such as Spyro Reignited Trilogy and Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, have also contributed to strengthening the service, becoming accessible for cloud streaming for the first time. As Microsoft continues to explore the future of gaming, the combination of hardware and services is emerging as a key strategy in its business development.

Activision has banned a mod in Call of Duty to make more money – or so it seems, at least

Activision has banned a mod in Call of Duty to make more money – or so it seems, at least

Nothing displeases players more than a studio that is afraid of them. And in the case of Activision, they seem to be terrified of the most normal thing in the world in their Call of Duty: a mod that was going viral for Modern Warfare Remastered. The reason? They were pretty sure it could interfere with the sales of Black Ops 6. The absolute definition of ‘insecurity,’ especially considering that the mod has just appeared and the sixth part will be released… on October 25th.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered

Shooting without modifications

The H2M mod had the idea of creating a place for the content of Modern Warfare 2, the version from 2009, with classic maps and weapons included, to use it in Modern Warfare Remastered. To do this, the mod required a copy of this game, which, to the supposed joy of Activision, made it rise very quickly in the sales charts.

The problem is that just before its release, the studio issued a notice not to release it, and the mod’s creators, without the ability to take legal action, had no choice but to stop its release at the last second. What we have now learned thanks to a video by Watchful Wolf, one of the modders (who, by the way, has retired after this disappointment), is that… they didn’t want H2M to interfere with the potential sales of Black Ops 6.

It has been of no use that the sales of Modern Warfare Remastered increased, that the mod did no harm to anyone and that it kept the community alive: Activision wants its annual Call of Duty to be a success even if it means forcing its community of followers rather than doing it willingly. Black Ops 6 is the game in the franchise that has taken the longest to make, about four years, and they want it to show in sales. Without mods, we’ll see if they are capable.
