More than two years after its release, Helldivers 2 has established itself as one of the best-evolving games as a service, despite facing technical issues and controversies along the way, such as the one that affected PlayStation Network. Arrowhead Game Studios has worked tirelessly to optimize its shooter, resulting in a smoother and more promising experience for players.
The fight against the Illuminated reaches a new level
The next major update, titled The Machinery of Oppression, is scheduled to be released on March 20. This update will introduce a new conflict against the Illuminated, centered around the Exospiras, imposing structures that generate thunderstorms in the southern part of the map. Players will need to deactivate shield generators and destroy feeder cells of the core of these structures to progress in the game.
In addition to new missions, this update includes important balance adjustments that responded to community requests. Incendiary weapons will receive significant improvements, especially flamethrowers, which will now be able to slow down smaller and medium-sized enemies. Modifications have also been made to several problematic enemies, adjusting their spawn frequency, speed, and resilience. Together, these improvements aim to elevate the quality of the game and provide a more satisfying experience for players.
Arrowhead Game Studios also presented a content roadmap that will extend until June, promising the arrival of new biomes and enemies. In April, the Terminites will make their appearance, along with two new biomes, a second Warbond, and new campaigns for the Galactic War. June will bring another biome and more missions, promising a steady flow of fresh and engaging content.
However, the Helldivers 2 community has also faced recent episodes of toxicity and ‘doxxing’, which contrasts with the positive evolution of the game, highlighting the importance of fostering an environment of camaraderie and respect among players.
