The title La Quimera, developed by the studio Reburn, is now available on Steam in early access for 29.99 euros, with a price increase as the game experience expands. This release has come after an indefinite delay that allowed the developers to work on an improved version after receiving initial criticism for being a predictable and short adventure, with only two hours of content instead of the promised five hours.
A game they are looking to refine over time
The first four levels of the campaign, equivalent to about five hours of gameplay, are designed to showcase the core experience that the creators aim to offer. The Chimera is set in a dystopian context in Latin America and seeks to merge the action of a first-person shooter with a strong narrative, both in single-player and cooperative game modes. According to Reburn’s indications, this approach requires extensive periods of testing and feedback to perfect the integration between the story and gameplay.
Developers have estimated that the early access phase will last approximately 18 months, a timeframe that could be adjusted based on player feedback. During this time, Reburn plans to implement significant improvements in narrative intensity, incorporate more engaged NPCs, enhance game pacing, and adjust level design to provide more challenging encounters.
Although many players might choose to wait for a more polished final version, the promised features include a deeper development of the story arcs and a set of phases that will enrich the gaming experience. The Chimera thus begins a journey that, barring surprises, will culminate in a year and a half with a more robust and appealing product for genre lovers.
