The iconic anime series Hunter x Hunter will return to Spanish screens through Animebox, after having achieved notable success in the 90s and being adapted again in 2011 by the Madhouse studio. This time, the streaming platform will not only offer the series digitally but will also launch physical versions in the Spanish market, marking a significant step for fans. However, the most notable aspect of this return is that, for the first time, Hunter x Hunter will be fully dubbed in Spanish, which marks a milestone in the anime sector in Spain and opens the door to more renowned titles that could be presented similarly.
What will the voices of the characters be like?
On September 12, the launch date will be when Animebox will start offering three episodes per week, scheduled for Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. This schedule will continue until all 148 episodes of the series are available. Both the original version and the Spanish dubbed version will be available, allowing viewers to choose their preference. This strategic decision by Selecta to implement full dubbing could help diversify the anime offering in the country.
Despite the common belief that most anime fans prefer to watch it in the original version with subtitles, recent data from Netflix indicates that more than half of viewers choose to watch it dubbed in their language. This trend suggests that by meeting this demand, companies may feel encouraged to follow Selecta’s example and consider full dubbing for other popular series.
Hunter x Hunter, created by Yoshihiro Togashi, is considered one of the most critically acclaimed shonen series, which undoubtedly fuels the anticipation surrounding its return. With the new release on the way, many hope that this revival will not only revitalize interest in the series but also encourage the arrival of more prominent titles to the anime landscape in Spain.
