The series Olympo has captured the audience’s attention by quickly positioning itself in the top spots of Netflix’s global Top 10. This production is presented as the successor to Élite, focusing on a group of young athletes training at a High-Performance Center, an environment that combines the competitiveness of elite sports with the typical entanglements of adolescence.
Mysteries, romances, and sports, a lot of sports
The plot follows Amaia, played by Clara Galle, captain of the synchronized swimming team, who faces the pressure of being the best. The series, consisting of eight episodes, stands out for its mix of drama, relationships, and sports challenges, similar to the plots that captivated fans of Élite. Through dialogues and everyday situations, “Olympo” promises to immerse the audience in a world where excellence and sacrifice are paramount.
Although the characters are not based on real figures, several actors have backgrounds in the world of sports. Ona Carbonell, a world medalist in swimming, has a small role in the series and has served as a mentor for her colleagues, like María Romanillos, who plays the swimmer Nuria Bórgues. We talked a lot, she helped me with the character preparation, Romanillos stated about her collaboration with Carbonell.
Agustín Della Corte, former rugby player, also brings his elite experience to the production. He revealed that Olympo reminded him of the commitment and sacrifice of constant training, although his focus now is acting. The locations for the series have been carefully chosen, combining fictional and real spaces, with recordings in Madrid and the beautiful Balneario de Panticosa in the Aragonese Pyrenees, adding an authentic touch to the narrative.
