Diablo 4 introduced its new expansion, Vessel of Hatred, with a spectacular and extremely violent new cinematic at the recent Xbox Showcase. Promising exactly what its fans want: more loot, more violence, and more visceral battles against Heaven and Hell. But what no one knew was that there was something else we also wanted but had never been offered: puppies.
The new expansion will introduce pets. These companions will be creatures that will collect gold, herbs, and crafting materials for you, making looting much easier for players. To get our pet, we just have to log in to the game, which will unlock a new quest. Upon completing this quest, we will receive our first pet: Asheara, the canine.
What no one expected was that the pets would not be huge and violent animals, but small and adorable puppies. The world of Diablo has always been violent, dark, and very sinister, and introducing pets that are also cute and lovable, is, to say the least, puzzling. But we won’t be the ones complaining about this peculiar change in dynamics. Not when they also turn out to be mechanically useful. And yes, you can pet them on the head.
What we will complain about is that if we want more pets, we’ll have to pay for them. If you want additional pets, you will need to pre-order Vessel of Hatred, the first expansion for Diablo 4. And not just any version—you’ll have to pre-order the Ultimate Edition, the most expensive version of all. But if you do, you’ll unlock Alkor, the snow leopard; Natalya, the tiger; and Hlrati, the canine. With faces that cute, we’re sure you’ll find it hard to resist.
Pets are now available in Diablo 4, thanks to patch 1.4.2. The Vessel of Hatred expansion will be relased on October 8th, in three different versions: Standard, Deluxe, and Ultimate.
