Digital Extremes has released a major update for Warframe, titled Techrot Encore, which introduces a new warframe called Temple, continuing with the nostalgic theme of Warframe 1999. This new musical character is the second in the franchise and stands out for using a flaming guitar, allowing him not only to attack enemies but also to enhance the abilities of his allies by syncing with a metronome, turning each battle into an explosive concert.
An update that continues to give a 2000s aesthetic to the game
The update also includes a new stage defense mission in Höllvania, where players must protect a concert from hordes of enemies known as Scaldra. In addition, new cosmetics called protoframes have been introduced, which offer a complete aesthetic change for old warframes, transforming them into new and stylized versions, similar to the characters from Dota 2. This allows characters like Saryn, Nova, and Frost to acquire looks that reflect the Y2K aesthetic.
The company has stated that this update is the result of ongoing work since the launch of Warframe in 1999, highlighting the longevity and popularity of the game on Steam, where it has maintained a solid player base. Although the new protoframes will allow daily lore interactions with players, Digital Extremes has indicated that, unlike past updates, these new characters will not be able to be romanced, a twist that may disappoint some fans.
With Warframe enjoying an unprecedented resurgence, the update promises to keep players intrigued and eager to explore more of this reinvented universe. Those interested can join the adventure on Steam, where Warframe continues to defy expectations, even several years after its original release.
