If I were asked how long it has been since Twitch played ‘Pokémon Red‘ collaboratively, I would have said, without a doubt, a couple of years. However, ten years have just passed: on February 12, 2014, the adventure began, which lasted until March 1, playing 24 hours a day without interruption. The audience decided what the next move would be in the chat and the democratic system made that move based on which one had the most votes second by second. Now, it’s back. And it has nothing to do with democracy.

To celebrate the tenth anniversary of one of those ideas that make the Internet always surprise, the team of Twitch Plays Pokemon will execute the commands on a real Game Boy (a Super Game Boy connected to a Super Nintendo), and instead of opting for democracy, they will opt for anarchy. That is to say: the Game Boy enters each movement in a row, even if it has fatal consequences. For now, they already have a level 22 Onix and a level 24 Gloom as they try to survive in Celadon City. Not bad at all.

It’s just the beginning, of course: they intend to do all the main Pokémon games. Over the years, Twitch Plays Pokémon has had many variations, such as one of Dark Souls or, even worse, a fish completing the original game, ‘Pokémon Sapphire’. It did, by the way, after 3195 hours. 133 days of non-stop swimming and floating. At this point, it could have evolved into Gyarados…
