The anticipation for the return of the Fallout series on Amazon Prime Video is on the rise, leading many fans to seek summaries of the first season. In response to this need, Amazon recently launched a service for AI-generated summaries, currently in beta phase. However, this new system has faced severe issues in its implementation, particularly in adapting key plots and the context of the content.

According to reports from GamesRadar+, Fallout fans noticed that the artificial intelligence confused flashback scenes, marking them as if they were from the 1950s instead of the retrofuturistic events set for the year 2077. This error is not only a technical flaw but also undermines the central narrative of the series, which takes place in a post-apocalyptic world following a devastating nuclear event.

In addition to the chronological issues, the AI-generated narrator misinterpreted the intentions of a crucial character, erroneously suggesting that a Ghoul offered the protagonist a choice of “to die or go with him”. This interpretation distorted the understanding of the plot, leading Amazon to withdraw the affected summaries, although the company has not commented on the mistakes made.

This setback highlights the challenges Amazon faces in integrating artificial intelligence tools into its original content production. With the return of Fallout on the horizon, the platform will need to ensure that its summary service provides an accurate and coherent representation of the series’ events to satisfy its audience. Otherwise, the summaries could be more of a hindrance than a help in recalibrating interest in the series.
