And as the demand for the device has been low, this has led Apple to cut its shipments in half just two months after its debut.

Despite its technological sophistication, both internally and externally, there are concerns about the limited usefulness of the device for early buyers, suggesting that the high price is not the only barrier to its mass adoption.

Cheaper glasses and more useful software

In an attempt to revitalize interest in the Vision Pro, Apple plans a major software update, visionOS 2.4, which could arrive in beta this week.

This update will feature artificial intelligence functions similar to those already available on other Apple devices, which could raise doubts about its ability to attract new users.

The features will include writing tools that integrate text generation technology, similar to ChatGPT, as well as visual features like the Image Playground application.

In addition, a new application will be developed to access space content. Apple will also introduce a revamped mode that will allow owners to temporarily share their devices, making it easier to use in homes with multiple users and enhancing the shared experience.

However, the premise that these changes could significantly boost sales seems optimistic. With a cost equivalent to seven units of the Meta Quest 3, consumer reluctance towards the Vision Pro may still pose a challenge.

In this context, rumors suggest that Apple is already working on a more affordable model, which could be vital in determining the future of the Vision Pro in the market.

The need for a strategy that includes both software updates and potential new hardware is clear to attract a broader consumer base.
