Prime Video’s Neagley is out now, and it’s already streaming. That gives Reacher its first big spinoff, and it also delivers a franchise-level answer to a question fans have had for a while: why Frances Neagley can’t stand being touched.
Season 1 moves Maria Sten’s Frances Neagley from supporting player in Reacher to the center of the story. In the process, it changes the canon by linking her haphephobia to childhood trauma. You find out she witnessed her police officer father kill a man who had sexually abused a child, then grab her and say, “No one ever touches you.” That memory comes back during Frances Neagley’s Chicago investigation into the suspicious death of a childhood friend.
The series doesn’t go for a neat fix, either. By the finale, recovery is treated as something slower, something tied to understanding and therapy, and that choice makes Neagley feel like a real part of the larger Reacher universe, not some side story you can skip; on the business side, it’s easy to see why Prime Video renewed it in October 2026 after, according to Prime Video, it drew about 40 million viewers in 13 days, became the platform’s fourth-biggest original debut, pulled 52 to 53% of its viewing from outside the U.S., landed a Certified Fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes, drew praise for Maria Sten, and even got Lee Child to say it answered questions he’d never fully answered himself.
If you follow Reacher, this spinoff is worth a look, especially with Zero Margin, the first Neagley novel from Lee Child and Yasmin Angoe, set to arrive in March 2027.
You can watch Neagley now on Prime Video.
