Since it was announced that Fede Álvarez, director of Don’t Breathe and Evil Dead, is going to direct the next Alien movie, many were already fearing what could end up happening: that it would be the best Alien movie to date. The images, synopsis, and trailers of Alien: Romulus confirmed that the Uruguayan director knew what he was doing, and now that the movie has been released, we can say that it has been a complete success.
With a debut of 97% positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, which has dropped to over 80%, it is the best-received film in the franchise since the first two, and has even surpassed them in its premiere. It has been widely compared to the video game Dead Space, a delight for fans of space horror, and many believe it is a breath of fresh air for a saga that, although it hurts us, should have continued without Ridley Scott.
