Rebel Wolves has set The Blood of Dawnwalker for 3 September 2026, and it’s also confirmed a detail console players probably won’t be thrilled about: on both PlayStation 5 and Xbox, the action RPG is targeting 30fps and 40fps modes, with no 60fps option announced.
On consoles, the game will have a Quality mode at 30fps with dynamic 4K, and a Balanced mode at 40fps with dynamic 4K. PC is, at least for now, the only platform expected to support 60fps and higher. On Sony’s PlayStation 5 Pro, the bump is to visual quality within those same two modes, not to frame rate.
Rebel Wolves has announced support for Xbox Series X and Series S, but it still hasn’t shared full performance details for Xbox Series S. That leaves an open question: does the Series S version match the same setup, or does it come with extra compromises?
If you expect 60fps to be the standard for an action-heavy release in 2026, you’ll want to know that before buying. Fans are already pushing back online. Some say they’d gladly give up dynamic 4K to get 60fps. Others are rethinking console purchases or holding off on pre-orders. There’s still no official word on a post-launch 60fps patch, either.
Rebel Wolves also hasn’t explained why the cap is there, though Unreal Engine 5 demands or CPU limits seem like the most likely reasons. Still, this is a game directed by Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, and early four-hour previews have been positive, especially about its combat depth and its time-limited sandbox structure, ahead of The Blood of Dawnwalker arriving on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
