Set 100 years before The Phantom Menace, during the High Republic, it is the first series to portray this era so faithfully. Therefore, it is a highly anticipated fiction by all fans. But what do we need to know exactly about its plot? The trailer has already made it clear several things that we have to take into account.

A series full of references to the Star Wars canon

The Acolyte, from what we have seen in the trailer, will portray the beginning of the fall of the High Republic in favor of the Galactic Empire. In the comics within the Star Wars canon, we know some facts that we could see in the series, although it seems that we will get closer to the rise of the Sith and the resurgence of Darth Sidious or his master, Darth Plagueis.

Although we keep the mystery of what will be seen exactly in the series – from Disney Plus they warn that it is provided as a fiction of several seasons – the series will follow Sol de Jung-jae and his Jedi companions as they investigate the mysterious character of Stenberg, who has been attacking and killing Jedi left and right. Thanks to Stenberg, we will explore the Force in a unique way, as we can see at the end of the trailer when we finally see a red lightsaber facing the rest of the Jedi.

One of the highlights of the series is that it is the Star Wars fiction where we will get to know more Jedis, even more than in the prequel trilogy. Although we can already see some in the trailer, we will undoubtedly have to wait for the different surprises that we will see in The Acolyte.

But has this trailer broken the canon? Some fans have wondered that considering that, in The Phantom Menace, one of the members of the Council states that “The Sith have been extinct for a millennium“. However, this is something that the movie itself contradicts by introducing Darth Sidious and Darth Plagueis, so The Acolyte has all the freedom in this regard.
