Knives Out is a franchise by Rian Johnson that was created out of thin air in 2019. After releasing The Last Jedi, the best film of the last Star Wars trilogy that was denounced by the most irascible fans, the director embarked on a small whodunit in the purest Agatha Christie style.
The result was that, with a budget of only 40 million dollars, Johnson achieved a box office of over 300 million, an unprecedented milestone for a film of this kind. Not only that, Netflix liked it so much that they bought the franchise to develop, for now, three more films with the same director. The second one, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, was a great success, and the third one, Wake Up Dead Man, is scheduled to be released next year.
A meaningless budget
However, data about this movie has just been revealed and the audience is shocked. According to The InSneider, Wake Up Dead Man has cost 210 million dollars, a huge amount that has nothing to do with the budget of the first one and makes many wonder how they will spend it, considering that it even surpasses the two Dune installments.
