After several generations with hardly any changes, the latest information suggests that Apple could be looking to redesign the ‘Slim’ iPhone 17 with a look that resembles the latest Google Pixel smartphones.
From what we have heard so far, the camera hardware could move from the left side of the device to the center. Additionally, it could be placed in a horizontal arrangement instead of having that triangular arrangement.
The Information shares that Apple plans to release a new variant of the iPhone 17 next year that will come with significant design changes compared to the current models.
A design change that very few people have asked for at Apple
The camera placement has always been on the left side of the iPhone, and this could be the first time the company intends to make a change. Apparently, the camera will move from the left to the center of the device, completely transforming the appearance of the terminal.
It is also believed that the company will change the camera layout. Instead of a square camera bump, the iPhone 17 model will have a horizontal camera bump. The camera sensors will be arranged horizontally in the center.
This will also make the device appear more symmetrical from the back compared to the current iteration, which will allow it to wobble very little or not at all when placed on the table or any flat surface.
Recently it was revealed that Apple is working on a new ‘Slim’ model of the iPhone 17, which will replace the ‘Plus’ model in the lineup. There are rumors that the device will be called iPhone 17 Slim, but there are no specific details confirming this information yet. Possibly, the nickname ‘Ultra’ could be used to justify the device’s premium features and price.
According to the report, the new premium variant of the iPhone 17 will come with a 6.5-inch screen and a noticeably thinner aluminum chassis. The rear camera hardware will be moved to the center of the device with a more powerful A19 chip powering the device.
On the front, the iPhone 17 Ultra or Slim could come with a narrow Dynamic Island for less intrusion and an improved front camera.
Please note that the device is expected to be launched in the second half of next year. This means that the company could be playing with a handful of prototypes. So nothing is certain at the moment.
