The latest series Marvel has announced promises to be the unexpected sequel to a hit from the past

We all know the whole Marvel series thing on Disney+ is a chore. That’s understandable. Neither Ironheart, nor Secret Invasion, nor Wonder Man have had the expected success, and the audience, inevitably, feels like it has to do homework to keep going. However, it seems they’ve thrown caution to the wind and are willing to reinvent themselves or die trying: after VisionQuest, all signs point to in 2027 there won’t be any new series and then, to everyone’s surprise, something called Zodiac will debut. No, not David Fincher’s series.

The guardians of SHIELD, with evil winning

In this case, although there have been several Marvel characters called Zodiac, all we know is that it’s a spy thriller with X-Files overtones that hasn’t even been cast yet. However, on social media we’ve come across a most interesting clue: Clark Gregg, who was Agent Coulson for years on Agents of SHIELD, has reposted the title and the logo on Instagram.

Considering Coulson hasn’t appeared since 2020, in the last episode of Agents of SHIELD, it seemed unlikely that the actor would return to the MCU beyond multiversal entanglements, especially considering that Kevin Feige doesn’t consider the series part of the MCU and, officially, he died in the current continuity.

The last we saw of Coulson was that he was traveling the world in his car, so it’s hard to know whether he’ll ever reunite with his SHIELD teammates, even though the actors have been asking for a reunion for years.
