All hopes for the future of DC in cinema are placed on James Gunn. The director of Guardians of the Galaxy has taken over from Zack Snyder and then distanced himself from him to create a completely new and, apparently, much brighter universe. And to prove it, he has set to work on his first big film: Superman.
Starring David Corenswet, who, for now, seems to be the most faithful Superman we have ever seen, the movie seems to have everything to kick off a universe that, in principle, seeks to compete against the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And to make it clear that it wants to pay homage to the history of Superman, the director doesn’t stop giving us very nice details that we will see in the movie.

James Gunn has paid a beautiful tribute to the late actor Christopher Reeve in his Superman movie
Among all those details, the most emblematic one that has transcended so far is the fact that he has given a small role in the movie to Will Reeve, the son of Christopher Reeve. The one who was once the quintessential cinematic Superman left us twenty years ago, and Gunn wants to make it clear that he will always be our quintessential Superman thanks to a small cameo by his son.
“Most of my memories of my father involve him after the accident because I was not yet three years old when he was injured, so seeing his whole life up until that point presented in such a poetic, cinematic, and authentic way by our wonderful directors has been a true gift for me,” said Will Reeve in statements to Variety about the memory of our Superman of the 20th century.
